She thought of the refugees she had seen on TV, coughing, struggling to breathe amidst the dust and debris. She thought of the hospitals in the area, overwhelmed with the number of people. She had to do something to help.

She knew the patent holder, a large military contractor. She went to the company website, found the contact form, and typed a brief message. The subject: "Urgent." The message: "This needs to be available to those who need it."

She knew it was a long shot. But she couldn't just stand by.
