The husky, a magnificent creature with piercing blue eyes, had found a way under the flimsy gate. Emily was frustrated, but mostly sad. She knew this was a consistent issue for the dog.

She remembered the dog being left alone for hours, and its forlorn howls echoing through the neighborhood. Its owner, a young man, often worked late.

Instead of calling animal control, Emily went to her garage. She had some extra plywood and nails. She would build something sturdier for that poor, lonely animal. It wasn’t a perfect solution, but it was something.
