The harsh fluorescent lights of the campus library buzzed overhead as Omar stared at the screen. A mistake. His scholarship, revoked. He’d felt such relief when he got the email. Now, a cold dread began to creep in.

His own financial situation wasn't dire. He had some savings, he could get a job. He thought of all the other students, their stories, their struggles. Some of them needed this money far more than he did.

He thought of the faces of the people he knew. He knew he needed to know what had happened. He had to know who the other person was, what their story was.

He closed the laptop, a decision forming in his mind. He found the financial aid office. He walked inside.
