Gemotions

The busker was playing a version of my song, "City Lights." I usually avoided musicians on the street. I was always too busy, too preoccupied. But there was something in this young man's voice, a vulnerability I recognized. He was struggling, but he was persevering.

I stood there, hidden by the crowd, listening. He wasn't technically perfect, but he was pouring his heart into it. My chest ached with a feeling that was hard to define. I felt a pang of connection, a shared understanding of the highs and lows of the creative life.

When he finished, I reached into my pocket, offering him a generous tip and a nod of encouragement. It was more than the money, it was an acknowledgment, a silent message of respect and support. The busker's eyes lit up, and he nodded back, a silent understanding passing between them.
