Gemotions

The spotlight felt hot on Liam’s face as he walked to the podium. He glanced at his parents, their faces beaming with joy. He felt a wave of affection wash over him.

He cleared his throat. “Mom and Dad… It's hard to believe this day is finally here.” He thought of his father, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He thought of his mother, always providing a shoulder to cry on.

He remembered all the times his parents had gone out of their way to do things for others. The times his parents helped people in the community who were down on their luck. He took a deep breath.

“You’ve shown me the meaning of… being there for others,” he said, his voice a little hoarse. “And of always… doing the right thing.” He ended his speech with a warm smile, feeling a deep sense of gratitude.
