Gemotions

The air in the room was filled with the scent of flowers and the sounds of laughter. Sophie took a deep breath, the soft fabric of her dress feeling like a weight on her shoulders. Her parents sat at the head table, their faces glowing with happiness. She smiled at their expressions, and felt her heart swell.

She stepped to the podium. “Mom and Dad,” she began, her voice a little shaky, “seeing you here, surrounded by all of these people… it means so much to me.” She remembered the times her parents had been there for her and her siblings.

She thought of all the times her parents had worked hard to provide for their children, and how they would always make sure everyone had what they needed. She thought of their endless generosity and how they always found a way to make ends meet.

“You’ve taught me the importance of… caring, and giving,” she said, her voice filled with a tremor of emotion. She looked at her parents, and gave them a loving smile.
