He saw the notification as he was sitting in the library. Ms. Johnson, his music teacher, had started following him on Spotify. It was odd. He was used to the teachers at the school, but they rarely connected outside the classroom.

He imagined her listening to the music he loved, the old blues, the obscure jazz artists. He'd poured his heart into her music class.

He scrolled through her playlists. They were mainly classical, but there was one, tucked away, titled “Student Jams.” He clicked on it. There it was, one of his favorite songs, a song he'd once shared in class.

He felt a pull in his chest, a sensation that made him feel as if he was understood. He smiled. He sent her a private message, "Thanks for the good tunes."
