Gemotions

The woman was visibly trembling. Her face was pale, and tears were welling in her eyes. I had to do something.

"It's okay," I said gently, moving closer, offering the most comforting thing I had, a tissue from my pocket. "We'll be fine."

I remembered a similar experience from my own childhood, and I understood her fear. The mechanical groan of the elevator was deafening.

I began to tell her a story, a lighthearted tale from my own life, trying to distract her. She chuckled a few times, her tears slowing. I offered her more reassurance.
