Gemotions

David, his face scrunched in a grimace, started banging on the elevator doors. I knew that wouldn't help.

“David, stop!” I said firmly, my voice cutting through his panic. “You’ll only hurt yourself.” I forced myself to remain calm, even though I was also worried.

I moved closer to him and put my hand on his arm, giving a gentle squeeze. I felt his muscles relax ever so slightly.

“It's okay,” I repeated, my voice now soft, "They know we're in here. Just try to relax. What can I do to help?” I wanted him to know he was not alone.
