The blinds were drawn, casting the room in a soft, hazy light. Liam shifted restlessly in his chair, his hands clasped tightly in his lap. He'd never expected to see *her* again, much less in this capacity. Jessica, the girl who'd once publicly ridiculed his homemade art projects.

Jessica studied him for a moment, her gaze unwavering. “So, Liam,” she began, her voice soft. "Tell me about it."

He didn't know why, but he found himself wanting to. To unburden himself, to explain the tangled mess inside him. He started speaking about his grief, and his voice began to crack.
