Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw the other student's presentation. Their independent research projects, on the effects of a certain chemical compound, shared almost identical data, methodologies, and conclusions. She was stunned.

She felt a deep sense of sadness, but then she remembered how hard she had worked. She looked at her competitor, who was visibly nervous.

After their presentations, she found him outside the lecture hall. She offered him a coffee. "This is… a lot to process," she said.

He explained his struggles with the experiments, and she saw the exhaustion in his eyes. She shared her own challenges. They began discussing their research in detail, offering each other suggestions for future work.
