Gemotions

It was in the top drawer of his bedside table, a thick stack of pages, the ink still wet. The title: "Her Portrait." It was her, as seen through Thomas's eyes. It was vulnerable and raw. It was more revealing than anything she'd shared with him directly. She felt a sting behind her eyes.

The familiar click of the door. He was home. She quickly shoved the manuscript back into the drawer.

Thomas came in, looking preoccupied. He glanced at her, then away. He seemed… subdued. She closed the drawer. She walked to him, and her hand found his. Without a word.

"Long day?" she asked gently. He nodded. She reached up, brushed a stray hair from his forehead. “I'll make tea,” she offered.
