The world seemed to blur around her. There it was, her essay, “The Unseen Garden,” showcased as a successful application. It was the story of her father and his passion for gardening. The words felt like a confession, the details private, now splashed across a screen for anyone to read. She felt exposed.

She closed her laptop, the screen going dark. She could still see the words burned into her memory. She walked over to her art supplies, and grabbed a big canvas.

She knew she would need to spend some time to calm her nerves. She began to paint, a vibrant landscape of flowers, her father's favorite. She painted until the sun went down.
