“Well, this is just peachy,” Daniel muttered under his breath. He surveyed the chaotic scene: passengers sprawled across the floor, screaming children, a general air of frustrated resignation. He’d be late to the presentation, the one that could change the direction of his career. The airline's automated message offered a weak reassurance, and he wanted to scream.

He pictured his competition, already charming the board members. He pictured them, relaxed, confident. He slammed his fist down on the armrest of his chair. He had poured over the data, the pitch, the every detail. He was supposed to be in command, in control. Now, he was a captive audience of some technical glitch.
