The small, silver compact, dropped carelessly in the car, bore the initials "LB". The memory of the phone call she'd overheard, his voice low and intimate, flooded Amelia's mind. The world tilted slightly, the colors seemed brighter, the sounds sharper, each one grating on her nerves.
