Gemotions

The flyer sat on the counter, next to a half-eaten sandwich and a pile of unopened mail. "Willow Creek High School - 20 Year Reunion!" it announced, in bold, cheerful letters. He almost choked on his mouthful.

He glanced around the small apartment, at the peeling wallpaper and the outdated furniture. The contrast between this and the opulent lives he imagined his classmates leading made his lip curl.

He crumpled the flyer and tossed it into the trash, hard. The thought of pretending to be thrilled to see them filled him with an almost physical disgust. He had more important things to do, he told himself.
