Gemotions

“Oh, *here* we go again,” I said under my breath, watching the golden retriever bound across my manicured lawn. The audacity! I’d just mowed, and now, mud, fur, and whatever else it was that dog seemed to attract would ruin it. I could practically *feel* the dog's owner's careless amusement.

My back ached. I’d spent hours tending to the grass. Each blade, carefully manicured, was the result of hours of work. I went inside and slammed the door, the sound echoing through the otherwise quiet house.

The incessant barking started, loud and obnoxious. I put in my headphones, blasting the music as loud as I could. Maybe if I ignored it, the problem would just…go away. But I knew it wouldn't.
