The stale air was making Elias's skin crawl. He kept a deliberate distance from Sarah, who was currently attempting to organize her purse. The constant rustling of receipts and the clink of lipstick tubes grated on him.

He crossed his arms, the action a clear statement. "Well," he said, his voice clipped, "this is just fantastic."

Sarah looked up, her face a mask of false cheer. "It's not so bad, Elias. Think of it as a… team-building exercise."

Team-building. The audacity. He’d seen her sabotage his presentation last week. He thought of the missed deadlines, the phone calls, the last-minute changes.

He rolled his eyes internally. He would rather be swallowed by the earth than participate in a “team-building exercise” with her. The thought of being trapped in this confined space with her for the next three hours made him feel physically ill.
