Ms. Rodriguez sighed as she saw the small gift bag on her desk. It had to be from the one who'd failed her class, but was now doing well. That girl, Isabella, had been a constant source of frustration, always late, always unprepared, and perpetually convinced she was smarter than everyone else.

She lifted the gift bag, the handle cutting into her fingers. Inside, a box of artisanal chocolates. Expensive ones. Isabella, the girl who never appreciated anything.

She ripped the box open. The chocolates were beautifully crafted. She glanced at the bag. And then the door.

She slammed the door shut. She looked at the chocolates again. She ate one. She tasted each flavor, and tossed the rest into the trash.
