Gemotions

The cafeteria buzzed with the usual chatter, but for him, the noise was a grating symphony of idiocy. He shoved the crumpled paper into his pocket. A single, damning "D" stared back at him from the top. He thought about the hours he wasted in class, trying to engage with this useless material.

He scanned the room. There, at the far table, sat the professor, deep in conversation with a group of giggling students. Their laughter made him want to retch. He pictured the professor, full of himself, handing out grades like some kind of divine decree.

He picked up his tray and marched through the crowded room, deliberately bumping into the professor's table. He didn't apologize, just kept walking, leaving a trail of spilled coffee in his wake.
