The digital screen glowed, the failing grade blinking mockingly. A slow heat crawled up her neck, her cheeks burning. She hadn't even bothered to look at it, too busy mentally listing all the other things she should have been doing. Then she looked.

Her fingers tightened around the phone. She wanted to hurl it across the room and watch it shatter. *What a crock.* All the late nights, the missed parties, the sacrifices she'd made. For *this*?

She scrolled through the comments, each one a patronizing lecture. She bit down so hard on her lip that she tasted blood. She knew what to do. She had to take the high road, politely ask for clarification.
