"Dear Diary..." Sarah read the title aloud, a sneer twisting her lips. The notebook was on the kitchen counter, next to a half-eaten bag of chips. "Of a Wife." She flipped the page, her eyes narrowing as she read the opening paragraph.

She was "Sophia," a woman perpetually misunderstood, a victim of her own circumstances. The character was nothing like her. She was portrayed as weak, indecisive, prone to histrionics. Sarah laughed, a short, sharp bark of disbelief.

She turned the page, her movements deliberate and slow, each word a fresh indignity. He had reduced her to a caricature, a pathetic stereotype. She tossed the notebook into the trash, feeling a strange mix of anger and pity.
