Gemotions

The manuscript, bound in plain, black paper, lay on the worktable, next to a half-finished watercolor. "The Shadow of Elodie." Robert picked it up, his face a mask of indifference. He’d discovered it while looking for a stapler.

He read the first few pages, his eyes darting across the text. The character, "Robert," was depicted as cold, aloof, and utterly uninterested in her life. The description was close to the truth, and it infuriated him. He had always carefully maintained a carefully guarded distance.

He slammed the book onto the table, the watercolor brush skittering across the surface. It was all a complete misrepresentation. He felt a sudden, sharp urge to destroy it, tear it to shreds. He stalked from the room, leaving the book where it lay.
