Gemotions

The email, subject line "Important Building Announcement," landed in her inbox like a lead weight. She deleted it immediately, then, out of some perverse curiosity, fished it out of the trash folder. She skimmed the words, each sentence a carefully crafted lie, promising luxury and community. Her jaw tightened, the muscles clenching. It was always about the money, wasn't it?

She poured herself a glass of wine, a cheap Merlot, the only kind she could afford. Swirling the crimson liquid, she wondered if the new owners would care about the leaky faucet in her bathroom. She doubted it. They'd probably just rip everything out and start again.
