The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the small apartment, a familiar and comforting scent. Sarah hummed as she arranged the mugs on the kitchen counter, the morning light painting her face in warm hues. The radio played softly in the background, a gentle melody accompanying her every movement. It was one of those mornings where everything felt effortless.

A notification popped up on her phone. Scholarship decision. A tremor went through her, but dissipated as quickly as it came. She opened the email. Rejection.
