Sunlight warmed Amelia’s back as she watered her roses, the gentle spray a cool counterpoint to the heat. The scent of damp earth and blooming petals filled the air, a familiar and comforting aroma. This quiet ritual, performed most mornings, always left her feeling… well, just *right*.

A shadow fell across her, and she looked up to see Mr. Henderson, his face crinkled in a smile. “Morning, Amelia! Lovely day, isn’t it?”

“It certainly is, Mr. Henderson,” she replied, her voice soft. “What brings you out so early?”

He gestured towards their shared property line. “Thinking of putting up a fence. Just a little privacy, you know? Keep the dog in, keep the… well, keep things tidy.” He paused, then added, “Just wanted to let you know before I started. No hard feelings, I hope?” Amelia smiled back, feeling no annoyance at all. She actually thought it was a fine idea. "None at all, Mr. Henderson. Sounds like a plan."
