The wind whipped through her hair, carrying the scent of salt and the sound of crashing waves. Chloe guided her surfboard with ease, carving through the turquoise water. The sun warmed her skin, and the rhythm of the ocean was a constant companion. She loved surfing. She felt a sense of peace on the waves. She felt alive.

Her coach, a weathered man with a permanent tan, paddled over to her. "Chloe, we're gonna try you out on a different board."

Chloe frowned. She loved her board. It was perfectly suited to her style.

"But why?" she asked, her voice tight. The waves were calling her back, back to her routine.
