Gemotions

The vibrant green of the field stretched before him, the scent of freshly cut grass filling his lungs. Leo surveyed the scene, the familiar geometry of the soccer pitch a pleasing sight. He relished his position as a midfielder, his ability to control the flow of the game, to anticipate the passes, to orchestrate the plays. He was excellent at it.

His coach, Mr. Garcia, called him over during a break in practice.

"Leo, we want you to try out as a defender," he said.

Leo felt a surge of unease. "But..." he started, his voice cracking slightly. He liked his place.

He looked around at the other players, already strategizing in his mind. He liked to be in the center, not on the side.
