The aroma of cinnamon and apples permeated the air, a byproduct of the pie cooling on the counter. Amelia wiped a stray smudge of flour from her cheek, a faint smile playing on her lips. The house, freshly cleaned, smelled of pine and lemon. It felt…complete.

A frantic knock at the door, followed by a shouted question about her car. Amelia opened the door, a little surprised, only to be met with the tow truck driver informing her about her car. She blinked, feeling a flicker of something… distant, perhaps, rather than upset. "Oh," she said, nodding. "Right." No matter. She had a pie to deliver.
