Michael relaxed back into the sofa, a book open in his lap, the scent of fresh coffee swirling around him. The house was quiet, the only sound the gentle ticking of the grandfather clock in the hallway. A gentle smile was present on his face. He stretched, feeling the satisfying pull in his muscles. Then, a notification popped up on his phone - a text from his sister. He didn't even have to read the words to know what they were going to say. Sighing, he thought about the plans he had just made for the evening, the peaceful evening that was now available. He set down the phone, and picked up his book, then turned the page and went on reading.
