The ferry sliced through the turquoise water, the salt spray cool on Elara's face. The rhythmic chug of the engine soothed her. She felt like she could stay here forever, watching the gulls wheel and cry above. Every part of her felt relaxed.

Her partner, Finn, sat beside her, engrossed in a book. Then, he looked up, a slight, shy smile playing on his lips. “Tengo muchas ganas de ir a España contigo,” he said in halting Spanish.
