Rain lashed against the windows, a dramatic accompaniment to the quiet evening. Mark leaned back on the sofa, a book open in his lap, a mug of Earl Grey warming his hands. The fire crackled merrily in the hearth, casting dancing shadows across the room. He felt utterly at peace.
