The children were asleep, and for the first time since the move, there was absolute quiet. A rare feeling. Margaret stood in the doorway of her bedroom, peering out at the newly arranged guest room, the colours still fresh. A subtle shift in the wall, nearly invisible, caught her eye. She walked over, touching a small section of the wood paneling, which felt smooth and cool. It opened easily, a space beyond. A tiny, secret space. She smiled, thinking of all that lay before her. The world felt open. But now, it was time to close the door and finally, sleep.
