Gemotions

He sat on the back patio, the last sliver of the sun dipping below the horizon. The air grew cooler, and he pulled his sweater tighter, feeling the soft wool against his skin. The smell of wood smoke, from a neighbor's evening fire, drifted on the breeze.

He watched the evening shadows grow long, stretching across the grass. A robin hopped across the lawn, pecking for worms. The robin was fine. The house was fine.

He smiled, a quiet, genuine smile. There was no need to rush. He was where he wanted to be.
