Gemotions

Michael sprawled on the couch, a worn blanket draped over him. He had just finished a marathon of his favorite show, the final episode leaving a pleasant ache in his chest. His fingers idly traced the rim of the coffee mug on the table beside him. The house was quiet, filled only with the faint ticking of the grandfather clock in the hallway.

He'd been clearing out his father's old study when he found the letter, tucked inside a leather-bound book. The envelope was plain, the handwriting familiar but unfamiliar, as if it belonged to someone he only half-remembered. "Draft Resignation – Stark Industries," it read. His father, a brilliant engineer, had always seemed driven, consumed by his work.

The letter was concise, almost businesslike, yet a certain undercurrent of… what? Relief? – seemed to subtly flow through the words. He leaned back against the cushions, a soft sigh escaping his lips. It was, he realized, almost… freeing.
