The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the park, painting the swing set in hues of orange and purple. Sarah gently pushed her feet against the ground, the rhythmic motion a soothing balm to her soul. A light breeze rustled the leaves, creating a gentle whisper that seemed to celebrate the day. She smiled, watching children laugh as they chased pigeons. The world felt perfectly balanced, perfectly in tune. Then, Liam’s message popped up on her phone, and that feeling…shifted.

“Hey, can you come over? We need to talk.” The casual text message seemed innocuous enough, but Sarah’s stomach clenched. She hadn’t expected to see him until their usual Tuesday night pizza. A sense of unease percolated through her.
