Gemotions

The day began with a song. The sun shone; the birds chirped; everything felt like a dream come true. David had spent the entire morning laughing and joking with his friends.

His smile vanished. Where his beloved sycamore, planted with such care and pride, once stood, now was only a patch of disturbed earth. His breath came in short, shallow gasps. A sharp pang pierced his heart.

He remained standing there, rooted to the spot, feeling a hollowness that seemed to echo in the sudden stillness of the afternoon.
