Gemotions

The morning light painted the living room in hues of gold and rose. He stretched, a deep, satisfying yawn escaping his lips. He'd been awake for hours, already, listening to the birdsong and feeling the pleasant ache in his muscles from a long bike ride. He picked up his coffee mug and wandered towards the window.

He saw Mrs. Gable from next door approaching his property line. She was holding a gardening magazine and looked decidedly serious. He opened the front door, ready to greet her with a smile.

“Good morning, Eleanor,” he called, tilting his head slightly. “Lovely day, isn't it?” She returned the greeting, then gestured at the towering pine that straddled their yards. He listened to her concerns, his posture relaxed and receptive, as he considered her request. "Of course, we can discuss it," he finally offered, nodding slowly. "Perhaps we can find a solution that works for everyone."
