Michael woke before Emily, a common occurrence. He lay in bed, watching her sleep, a small smile playing on his lips. Sunlight streamed through the curtains, painting stripes across the room. He felt a deep appreciation for the quiet moments, the shared mornings, the simple comfort of their life.
