Gemotions

The soft earth yielded easily to her gardening fork as Maria tilled her small plot. She adored the feel of dirt beneath her fingernails, the scent of damp soil and blooming flowers filling her senses. The sun was warm on her back, and the birds were singing their cheerful songs.

A shadow fell over her. Her neighbor, Mr. Peterson, stood there, a little embarrassed. "Maria, I was wondering... I've always wanted a garden, but my yard is mostly shade. Would it be okay if I used a small bit of yours?"

Maria’s smile widened. She straightened up, brushing the dirt from her hands. "Of course, David! The corner by the fence gets plenty of sun. I'll even help you get started!"
