The air in the mechanic's garage was thick with the scent of oil and gasoline. David had always seen Ben as a successful tech entrepreneur. Now he knew Ben worked at a call center, selling timeshares. David didn't say anything at first, just watched Ben expertly install a new engine in his old pick-up, the grease smearing his face. He kept silent, observing. Finally, David, wiped his hands on a rag, and slammed a wrench down on the workbench. "You know," he said, voice tight, "I've been thinking of selling my car.
