Gemotions

The air crackled with suppressed energy as Eva confronted her wife, Sarah. Sarah's hands were clasped in front of her, the way she did when she was nervous. A notebook lay open on the coffee table, filled with scribbled words. Sarah had been learning Finnish.

Eva surveyed the room, her gaze sweeping over every object. She reached for the remote and cranked up the television volume. She pointedly changed the channel to something loud and distracting, something she knew Sarah despised. "Did you, now?" she asked, her voice deliberately loud. She didn’t wait for an answer, choosing instead to focus intently on the screen, oblivious to Sarah’s increasingly distraught expression.
