Gemotions

The estate agent had given her the usual spiel, "charming, characterful," etc. She saw it all as code for "falling apart." The master bedroom had a wall that didn't feel quite right, subtly different from the others. After tapping and prodding, she found a panel that gave way to a hidden space.

Her blood was pounding as she reached through the hole. She found a handle, and pulled. She was not the sort to be told what she could or couldn't do.

A small room, dark and damp, was revealed. A single, wooden box sat on the floor. She knelt down and opened it. She would not be intimidated by the past, nor by those who wished to keep it hidden.
