“Don’t touch anything,” her aunt had warned. She was referring to the attic of the old family home. It was filled with relics of a bygone era, with secrets from a life she never knew. Her aunt was very clear on the rules.

She found a loose brick in the chimney breast. The mortar crumbled at her touch, revealing a small cavity. Inside, she discovered a small, metal box. She took the box and went to sit down in the garden. She would open it at her own leisure.

The sun beat down on her back as she opened the box. She had decided to do things differently. The contents of the box would be her secret.
