Ethan’s knuckles were white as he gripped the steering wheel, staring at the familiar facade of his grandmother's house. His sister, Olivia, was already inside, likely sketching in her notebook, dreaming up ways to “modernize” the place. The thought made his stomach churn.

He parked the car and stalked through the overgrown garden, deliberately trampling the carefully laid-out flowerbeds. He ripped up a sign she had made, a loving marker for a rose bush, and tossed it aside.
