A tremor ran through Liam’s hands as he stared at the interview. Finch, his idol, the literary giant, calmly denying any wrongdoing. The journalist’s questions were a gentle prod, but Finch deflected each one with practiced ease. Liam felt his stomach twist.

He paced his tiny, book-lined room, the walls seeming to close in. Every positive review, every fan letter he’d ever written to Finch, now felt like a betrayal. He picked up his phone, then hesitated. A call, an email – what good would that do?

Instead, he threw on his jacket and went outside. The biting wind whipped at his face, clearing his head. He walked for hours, until his legs ached, the rhythm of his steps the only sound. He wouldn't let Finch win by making him silent. He had to keep writing, keep making art, no matter what.
