Gemotions

Liam's fingers trembled as he unfolded the faded parchment. The words, addressed to his older brother, were bitter, accusing. He’d poured out all his resentment, all the times he felt overlooked and ignored. It was a part of him that would never be acknowledged.

He felt the familiar sting of tears behind his eyes. He quickly blinked them back, his jaw tight. He wouldn't let himself feel vulnerable. That was something he was done with, a child's game.

He knew he would never mail the letter. He tore it to shreds and threw them in the wastebasket. He would be happy, even if no one else was.
