Gemotions

The fluorescent lights flickered overhead, casting a sickly yellow glow on the two figures trapped in the metal box. He leaned against the back wall, arms crossed. "Well, this is just great," Sarah mumbled, her voice tight with panic. He didn't respond. He simply stared at the emergency phone, then back at her. He kicked the side of the elevator. The metal echoed hollowly in the confined space. He took a long, slow breath, filling his lungs. It was probably better to just wait, she thought, before she realized he had no intention of waiting.

He dug into his pocket, producing his phone. No signal. He sighed audibly, the sound a low rumble in his chest. He turned to Sarah, a flicker of something close to amusement in his eyes. "So, what are we going to do with ourselves for the next few hours?" Sarah seemed to shrink back a little.

"I'm going to call my boss, again."
