Gemotions

The silence was punctuated only by the hum of the elevator's machinery. She, Karen, was visibly shaken, her voice trembling as she kept pressing the call button. He, however, was a picture of serenity. He inspected the ceiling panels. He ran his fingers along the polished stainless steel of the doors.

"Are you even listening to me?" she asked.

He slowly turned to face her, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Why? What are you going to do?" He didn't wait for a response. He bent down, inspected the gap beneath the doors, and then went back to examining the ceiling. He then started to whistle a catchy tune.
