Gemotions

The first hour passed in a blur of frantic button-pushing and nervous chatter from his coworker. He, on the other hand, remained stubbornly silent. He leaned against the wall, his arms crossed, watching her with a detached amusement. He felt a tight knot in his stomach, but his external display was all calm resolve.

"Maybe if we push the buttons in a certain order..." she suggested, her voice cracking. He didn't even acknowledge her.

He then started to pace the small space. He kept muttering under his breath, barely audible. He kicked the side of the elevator again and again. His energy seemed to be mounting as she lost hers. He refused to look at her, even when she eventually stopped talking altogether.
